All foreign nationals are required to have entry visas to travel to the Russian Federation. Russian entry visas can be obtained at local Russian Embassy or Consulate, proper authorization (invitation) from the Passport and Visa Department (OVIR) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is required. Note that simple confirmations of hotel bookings are no longer sufficient.

The Russian Ilizarov Scientific Center for Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics is situated in Kurgan, RUSSIA.
There is no International airport in Kurgan. It is convenient to arrange your travel to Kurgan through Moscow.
The flight from Moscow to Kurgan duration is 2 h 30 min. It arrives in Kurgan at 6 am due to two-hour-difference between Kurgan and Moscow time (+2h).
Note that there are several airports in Moscow. Most of international flights arrive in Sheremetievo-2 airport (SVO2), a flight to Kurgan departs from VNUKOVO airport (VKO). They are situated on opposite sides of the city (see location). There is no direct SVO2-VKO connections available. Taxi is the only option if one wants to go fast and straight. Prearranged taxis normally present no problem, there is a TAXI desk in a departure hall of SVO2 or your can call for a taxi by phone (see details). We do not recommend taking numerous taxi, which are offered by the people you do not know. It is not safe. Use the official TAXI desk.

The current weather in Kurgan

In Kurgan winter is cold and long and summer is quite warm. In January , the coldest month of the year, average temperature is -16 -17°C (3-1°F) Sometimes (very rarely) it becomes as cold as -40°C (-40°F). Thaws in winter are very rare. During long winter there is a lot of snow in the city and it melts down by the end of April. May is a month of blooming. Average temperature in May: +10-15°C , in June +18-25°C, July is the warmest month of the year. The average temperature is 18°C (64°F). The hottest temperatures are 35-38°C (95-100°F). Summer ends in late August with first frosts coming to Urals. Average temperature in August +15-25°C and in September +0-15°C. "Indian Summer" in the middle of September is short but very nice. First snow falls in the beginning of October , and finally covers the city in early November.
