How to get to the Centre?

Kurgan is the administrative center of Kurgan Region, Russia; one of the oldest cities in Siberia (geographical position: 55°28'N, 65°21'E).
It was founded in 1662, then called Tsarevo Gorodishche, and acquired its present name in 1782. Kurgan lies on the Trans-Siberian railway line, between Yekaterinburg and Omsk.
KAvZ bus plant and KMZ machine building plant that produces widely known bmp-1, bmp-2 and bmp-3 infantry fighting vehicles, and other big factories are mostly of engineering manufacturing.
Kurgan is also a home to the Russian Ilizarov Scientific Center for Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics, the alma mater of the Ilizarov method.

TRAVEL
The Russian Ilizarov Scientific Center for Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics is situated in Kurgan, RUSSIA.
There is no International airport in Kurgan.
It is convenient to arrange your travel to Kurgan via Moscow.
The flight from Moscow to Kurgan duration is 2 h 40 min. There is two-hours’ difference between Kurgan and Moscow time (+2h).
Note that there are several airports in Moscow. Most international flights arrive in Sheremetievo-2 airport (SVO2) or Domodedovo (DME) and the Kurgan flight departs from Vnukovo airport (VKO)
(see location). There is no direct connection available. Taxi is the only option if one wants to go fast and straight. Prearranged taxis normally present no problem, there is a TAXI desk in departure halls or your can call for a taxi by phone (see details). We do not recommend taking numerous taxi, which are offered by the people you do not know. It is not safe. Use the official TAXI desk.
Another option is the flights of European airlines to Ekaterinburg (Yekaterinburg) at Koltsovo International airport (SVX) that is situated 350 km from Kurgan.

In Kurgan, winter is cold and long and summer is quite warm. In January, the coldest month of the year, average temperature is -16 -17°C (3-1°F) Sometimes (very rarely) it becomes as cold as -40°C (-40°F). Thaws in winter are very rare. During long winter there is a lot of snow in the city and it melts down by the end of April. May is the month of blooming. Average temperature in May: +10-15°C, in June +18-25°C, July is the warmest month of the year. The average temperature is 18°C (64°F). The hottest temperatures are 35-38°C (95-100°F). Summer ends in late August with first frosts coming to Urals in October. Average temperature in August +15-25°C and in September +0-15°C. "Indian Summer" in the middle of September is short but very nice. First snow falls at the end of October, and finally covers the city in early or middle November. |
