Some facts from the history of the Faculty.

The faculty for advanced training in the method of transosseous osteosynthsis was organized in 1979 on the initiative of Prof. G. A. Ilizarov due to the necessity to systematically train the orthopaedic surgeons in the new at that time method.

During 28 years of its functioning, 377 training courses were attended by more than 9,167 orthopaedic surgeons from Russia, former USSR, and other foreign countries. 28 courses were held at other places on the invitation of orthopaedic departments or societies. The teaching methods are: lectures, practical pre-op diagnosis, life surgeries, post-op discussion, discussion of cases at morning conferences, ward rounds, post-op management, and emergency calls at the admission department.
