Services

  1. Remote medical consulting of patients with orthopaedic diseases and injuries to define the possibility of their treatment at RSC RTO
  2. Remote consultations for physicians and hospital units: cases of complicated orthopaedic and traumatologic pathology.
  3. Consultations for researchers and physicians on quantative roentgenotelepathology using original noninvasive diagnostic tests on the basis of computer morpho- and densitometry, segmentation by intensity half-tone images of X-rays, CT-scans, and magnetic resonance images.
  4. Remote consultations on veterinary medicine.

Russian Ilizarov Scientific Centre for Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics invites medical and scientific institutions as well as all interested persons for teleconsultations through Internet. Consultations are based on the analysis of medical verbal and graphic information: colour or black-and-white photos, radiographs, tomograms, ultrasonograms and other data of clinical and instrumental examination. When a profound quantitative evaluation of clinical and experimental data is needed the Centre can provide services on computer analysis of halftone and full color images, including image understanding according to the set parameters, segmentation according to the intensity level, stereologic analysis, three-dimensional reconstruction and volumetry of the object according to its two-dimensional equivalents (series of histologic and tomographic sections), etc.

To avoid the program incompatibility the following formats should be used for transmitting the information:

  1. Graphic information (24-bit color or gray palette)
    • personal photo images (jpeg)
    • radiographs, tomograms and similar materials: BMP (Windows); TIFF or PCX, compressed by ZIP, ARJ or any other for reducing the volume by transmitting; GIF
  2. Verbal (textual) information
    • Word for Windows (any version)
    • text Windows or MS-DOS
  3. Digital information
    • Excel for Windows (any version)
    • text Windows or MS-DOS
  4. Personal database
    • Access for Windows (any version)
    • Paradox (any version)

The following parameters are urgently recommended for medical images:

  1. Personal photo images - geometrical size of the digital image not less than 640 x 480 pixels, 24-bit color, JPEG format, taken with digital camera, without processing.
  2. Total view radiographs - resolution 100-150 points per inch, gray pallet, any big-mapped graphics or JPEG with a small compression factor.
  3. Radiographs and tomograms for visualizing a middle size area (i.e. pelvis fracture site or major joint) - resolution 300-450 points per inch, gray pallet, any big mapped graphics.
  4. Radiographs and tomograms for visualizing a small size area (i.e. hand and vertebra injuries) - resolution 450-600 points per inch, gray pallet, any big mapped graphics.
  5. Histologic preparation images and other small size objects - 600-1200 points per inch, 24-bit color or optimized pallet, any big mapped graphics.
  6. Images obtained from different types of microscopes - maximal size, 24-bit color or optimized pallet, any big mapped graphics.

  7. Important! The volume of the transmitted or previously compressed image should not exceed the restriction of E-mail providers. Our E-mail limit is 1.8 Mb. The images exceeding the limit should be placed into multivolume archive and transmitted by parts that should be noted in the message.
