Young Scientists Society

Young Scientists Society at the Russian Ilizarov Scientific Center for RTO was reestablished in 1999 on the initiative of Prof. V.I. Shevtsov, and is a creative union of the scientists under 35 years of age that work at the Center. Historically, it’s a descendant of the Council of Young Scientists that had existed at KNIIEKOT from 1970.

The main objective of the society is to unite the creative young people to defend their interests and satisfy the scientific and professional needs of its members. The main tasks are to create professional conditions, to develop creativity of young specialists, to render them theoretical and practical assistance in their scientific and professional activities.

The society is not a legal entity and cooperates with the Center’s administration, trade union committee, Ilizarov Foundations, regional, Russian and international societies of young scientists and orthopaedic surgeons.

The Society promotes national and international developments in science, techniques in the field of orthopaedics and traumatology, as well as inventions and innovative proposals. It participates in seminars, scientific conferences, competitions, exhibitions, tours in order to promote and make propaganda for scientific development and creativity.



The subjects of the young scientists research under supervision of the leading specialists of our Center frequently develop into post-graduation scientific theses. The conducted studies were awarded by the government of RF, regional authorities, and by the French Society of orthopaedic surgeons SOFCOT. Annually, 10 applications are registered as inventions.

Young scientists participate in international conferences, attend training courses in other scientific and clinical centers, including the USA, France, Japan, and Germany.

International conferences of young scientists are held regularly, once in 5 years.

The Young Scientists society is open for proposals on mutual cooperation in practical and theoretical medicine.

• June 13-15, 2001. The scientific and practical conference "Medicine in XXI century: Communication of generations" was dedicated to the 80th birthday of academician G.A. Ilizarov and 30th Anniversary of RISC that was attended by young scientists from 19 regions of Russia, CIS countries, Great Britain, Japan and India.
• June 14-16, 2006. The anniversary scientific and practical conference "Young scientists: new ideas and discoveries" was dedicated to the 85th birthday of academician G.A. Ilizarov and 35th Anniversary of RISC that was attended by 200 young scientists who delivered 180 scientific presentations.
