Case report
Dog, age 8 months, weight 25 kg. Clinical examination revealed deformity of anatomic region of the right hip joint, localized pain. Comparative shortening was up to 3 cm. X-ray examination of pelvis was carried out. Based on these data the diagnosis was: simple traumatic dislocation of the right thigh, avulsion of the major trochanter of the right thigh (pic.1).
Open reduction of the head of the right thigh-bone into acetabulum, reposition of the major trochanter of the right thigh-bone were carried out. Later external fixation of pelvis, of the hip joint region and of the major trochanter of the right thigh-bone with the apparatus of rod-wire type. Taking into account the combined type of trauma, clamps were entered both transosseous and console (pic.2).
The period of fixation lasted 35 days. Roentgenograms displayed full centering of the thigh-bone head in acetabulum. The contour of acetabulum was edged. The head kept natural oval shape (pic.3). X-ray examination displayed dense shadows on the level of major trochanter, that became the reason to judge about its full consolidation with thigh-bone (pic.4). Support ability of the limb is preserved.
