Height increase

Heightism in orthopaedic practice is a very special topic. Nowadays, those who refer to an orthopaedic surgeon are not only people with locomotor system pathology, but also healthy individuals who want to increase their height. According to WHO, a short stature person is an adult whose height is less than 147-150 cm. Nevertheless, there are individuals who are higher than 150 cm but want to improve quality of their life by increasing their height.

The method of transosseous osteosynthesis, developed by G. Ilizarov at our Center, was the first in orthopaedics to provide limb lengthening and deformity correction by which bone and soft tissues regeneration is optimized with reliable fixation of bone segments, low invasive operation, preserved blood supply in limbs, early weight bearing during walking, and individual approach.
