Bone diseases

The role of bones cannot be overemphasized. Due to bones the human body has its fixed form and internal organs have certain defense from outside affects. The human skeleton consists of over 200 bones. Bones begin to develop before birth. It is a rather difficult process and includes several stages.

First, bones are made of flexible cartilage, but within a few weeks ossification begins. The cartilage is replaced with calcium phosphate deposits and collagen. The bones of kids and young teens are smaller than those of adults and contain zones of growth called growth plates. These plates consist of multiplying cartilage cells formed in columns that grow in length, and then change into solid, mineralized bone. Bone building continues all life and is called osteogenesis. Bone contains three types of cells: osteoblasts, osteocytes and osteoclasts. Osteoblasts take part in osteogenesis. Osteocytes provide bone with nutrition and waste elimination. Osteoclasts realize osteolysis and help to shape bone in correct way and to remodel it during growth.

This brief description shows how complicated the process of bone generation is. Each stage of osteogenesis may be disturbed and different bone diseases develop (the majority is listed in medical services).

Most of our departments treat bone diseases. Which one exactly matches your needs, please, contact us.
