on conducting the teaching seminar and demonstrative operation in Federal State Institution «Russian Ilizarov Scientific Centre «Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics» of shoulder joint prosthetics of «DePuy» company (Johnson & Johnson).

In June, 27 the demonstrative operation of shoulder joint prosthetics was performed in «Russian Ilizarov Scientific Centre «Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics». The seminar on modern methods of shoulder joint prosthetics was also conducted here. During the operation the first shoulder joint prosthesis in Russia (Global advantage) was placed. It has become the first experience of shoulder joint prosthetics for Russian Ilizarov Scientific Centre. V.Yu. Gorokhov, the surgeon of the Central Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics named after Pirogov. Collaborators of «Russian Ilizarov Scientific Centre «Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics» and of Scientific-Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics from Ekaterinburg and Novosibirsk took part in operation.

Practice of shoulder joint prosthetics in Russia begins to develop. And the main aim of «DePuy» company is to train surgeons.

During the operation the shoulder joint prosthesis «Global advantage» of «DePuy» company was placed. It has the clinical history of 15 years. «Global advantage» is the third generation of systems combining the principle of proximal infill, low - profile standards and eccentric heads with simple-to-operate instrument. Surgeons in Europe, the USA and Russia successfully use this prosthesis.

During the seminar the surgeons discussed indications and contraindications to shoulder joint prosthetics, their own scientific researches in this field. The first operation of shoulder joint prosthetics in «Russian Ilizarov Scientific Centre «Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics» proved that the Centre is one of the leaders of the world traumatology and orthopaedics using the newest achievements of modern endoprosthetics along with its own methods of treatment.
